Syrena

A MINI FROM POLAND: Mike is on the lookout for a classic from Poland, the Syrena. It is the Polish version of our beloved Mini.

TEST DRIVE: The Syrena was first exhibited at the Poznań Trade Fair in 1955 but Mike finds a 1983 model.

LONG LIST OF REPAIRS: Edd gets cracking on the electrics and the mechanics and there are quite a few issues to sort out. The steering, the gear box, the brake shoes...the list is long....

STUCK ON YOU: Edd manages to source a few rare parts and the rest have to be refurbished or replaced.

FLYING THE FLAG: Edd has to strip the car ready for a brand new paint job inspired by the Polish flag.

LIGHT ME UP: The headlights were dim and the battery kept going flat so Edd has to give the inefficient dynamo the heave-ho in favour of a new alternator.

ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW: The steering was all over the place but Edd managed to source a new steering box to bring the Syrena back on the straight and narrow.

AMBASSADOR: Mike and Edd take the refurbished Syrena to the Polish Embassy in London, to meet the Polish Ambassador.

SEAL OF APPROVAL: Mike and Edd take the Polish Ambassador for a spin to see if they can get his seal of approval.

LITTLE WONDER: Can Mike and Edd make a profit after spending more on the refurbishment that it cost in the first place. Who will want to buy this little Communist era wonder?
